Reading Tips for You
Here are listed 6 Important IELTS reading tips for you; you should follow these tips for good score in your IELTS reading task. These are very common IELTS tips; you can practice these tips without any mentor.
IELTS Reading Tips
Remember to keep your reading goals to yourself. However, you should talk about the novels you have read. Because I pass on the information or ideas I just read, it becomes part of the overall reading process. As a bonus, I get new recommendations from others. “Well, if you liked it, you should read this book next,” someone will say.
Have Your Next Book Waiting
When I’m about to finish a book, I take a few moments to choose the next one to read. I then move quickly from one book to another as suggested by the overseas education consultants in India.
Set a Dedicated Reading Time
It helps in forming a reading habit. Before everyone gets up in the morning, I always set aside 20 to 30 minutes. Distractions are thus avoided. My favorite time is the 20-30 minutes before going to bed. At the very least, having set reading times ensures that I read at least an hour a day.
Buy Books That Are On Sale
If you’re on a tight budget or want to save money, look for books on sale. It’s something I used to do when I went to bookstores. I was walking around with a certain book in mind. Then I walked away with a pile of books that had piqued my curiosity because of their low prices.
On Amazon, you can now simply search for used books or items for sale. It is an inexpensive option to start your library.
Join a Book Club
Another strategy that will get you more involved in reading is joining a book club. You’ll get great recommendations as well as access to a community where you can discuss and share your ideas. The book clubs offered me some of my favorite books. It reminds me of books I haven’t read in a hundred years. Some of them have become favorites.
You can search for book clubs in your area using Google. Reserve groups on the internet pretty well.
Hijack your Facebook habit
“It’s hard to break bad habits. However, you can control your behavior and turn them into positive behaviors, ”says David Kadavy, author of“ Design for Hackers, ”“ Habits start with a trigger, followed by action and reward. Your investment grows over time. The cycle continues.
In this situation, you can replace your bad Facebook habit with a good reading habit by doing the following, as suggested by Kadavy:
Reduce the amount of friction. There’s something stopping you from enjoying books the way you like on Facebook. Starting a book seems like a big deal. If you only have a few minutes, you can get yourself out of it. Therefore, you should allow yourself to read small pieces of literature.
Your trigger has been hacked. Grab a book instead of grabbing your phone every time you feel your Facebook trigger. Because a mobile device is too appealing, it’s ideal if it’s a physical book at first. If you need to use a mobile device, set up your icons so that Facebook is hidden and the Kindle is visible.
Replace your action with something else. Now it’s your turn to read a book for practice! Just choose a page in the book and start reading. Remember that you need to remove any friction that leads you to believe that a book is an excessively large investment.
Reading in Sprints
Some days my concentration is not as strong as it should be. In those days I set the timer for 20 minutes and read in 20 minute sprints. Reading in a 20-minute sprint keeps my attention from wandering and keeps me from burning out.
Take Notes, Read Aloud or Follow With Your Mouth
In a public context, it may offend others, but these hacks can help you better understand the author’s point of view. Speaking out loud helps you draw new conclusions and improves your focus, concentration, and retention.
Don’t be embarrassed if you scribble notes in the margins of books or on a post-it note and say them out loud during the trip. This will further increase your literacy skills, turning you into a lean, nasty reading machine. Still if you are facing issue, you should join the best IELTS coaching in Agra or near you.
