Super Duplex is a highly alloyed steel with a high PREN for use in aggressive environments. It contains 25% chromium, 7% nickel, 3.6 percent molybdenum, copper, tungsten, and nitrogen.
When the alloy is annealed, it contains 40 to 50 percent ferrite. Despite maintaining the austenitic grades’ corrosion resistance, the super duplex microstructure has the high strength of the ferritic grades. Super Duplex Steel is frequently used as a workable remedy for chloride-induced stress cracking. In sour-gas environments, it also exhibits exceptional resistance to sulfide-stress corrosion cracking.
The material is more resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion when using Super Duplex Round Bar. Additionally, they are resistant to acid general corrosion, erosion-corrosion, corrosion fatigue, and cracking under chloride stress. They are highly mechanically strong and have good weldability.
