The Duplex Steel Round Bar are designed to be stronger than typical austenitic stainless steels in order to give improved corrosion resistance, notably chloride stress corrosion and chloride pitting corrosion.
Duplex 2205 is the duplex (ferritic/austenitic) grade of stainless steel that is most frequently used. The Duplex 2205 alloy is a duplex stainless steel alloy that has been strengthened with nitrogen. The corrosion resistance of the alloy is greatly increased by nitrogen, particularly in the welded form.
Unfortunately, the strong strength that makes these Duplex Steel 2205 Round Bars valuable in many applications also limits its machinability. It cuts at a rate that is about 20% slower than grade 304. Due to its strength, Duplex 2205 is more difficult to bend and form than austenitic stainless steels, necessitating more capable machinery.
Alloy 2205 is a 22 percent chromium, 3 percent molybdenum, 5-6 percent nickel nitrogen alloyed duplex stainless steel with good general, localized, and stress corrosion resistance qualities in addition to its high strength and exceptional impact toughness.
The Duplex Steel Round Bar provides pitting and crevice corrosion resistance greater than austenitic SS in virtually all corrosive environments. Additionally, it possesses higher fatigue corrosion and degradation qualities than austenitic, as well as reduced thermal expansion and better thermal conductivity.
When compared to stainless austenitic steels, the yield power is about twice as high. This makes the alloy less expensive than 316L or 317L and aids manufacturers in reducing weight.
Duplex Steel Round Bar is very well suited for applications that require a temperature range of -50 degrees Fahrenheit to +600 degrees Fahrenheit. Although there are some limitations, it is possible to take temperatures outside of this range, especially for welded structures.
Because of the high standard 2205 alloy’s high proportion of chromium, molybdenum, and nickel, it has a high PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent) of 35.8, which increases its corrosion resistance. The PREN of the AL 2205 alloy is greater than that of SS 316L and SS 317L. When appropriately heat-treated, the composition of the AL 2205 alloy results in a microstructure that is made up of a roughly equal blend of austenite and ferrite phases.
Round bars made of duplex steel are renowned for their exceptional resistance to heat and general corrosion. Combining austenitic and ferrite stainless steels, this duplex steel exhibits strength and endurance. Duplex Steel Rods have outstanding mechanical and thermal qualities throughout a broad pressure and temperature spectrum.
Many different industries and applications use our duplex steel round bar. The petroleum industry, the oil and gas industry, the chemical industry, the power plant industry, the energy industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the pulp and paper industry, the food processing industry, the aerospace industry, and the refining industry are a few of the major industries.
