In what ways does it work? Do you have any idea how it all works? Some of the answers to these questions can be found in the procedure’s name, the LANAP procedure. LANAP stands for Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure, and “new attachment” refers to how laser therapy facilitates the attachment of healthy gum tissue to the bone in your jaw and mouth through pulsed light. The progression of gum disease means that sections of your gums may get infected, causing your teeth to loosen. This is critical in the treatment of periodontal or gum disease.

Periodontal treatment has typically relied on long-term healing of the gums to correct this issue. By stimulating healthy gum tissue with laser energy, LANAP aids in gum disease therapy by promoting the formation of new attachments and speeding up the healing process.

For Gum Surgery, LANAP

When treating severe periodontal disease with osseous surgery, the dentist uses scalpels to cut away diseased gum tissue and then surgically removes any contaminated pockets in your bone or gums.
