The National Club Football Association (NCFA) is an association of collegiate American football teams. It is a member of CollClubSports and oversees the NCFA National Championship.
NCFA teams are typically operated by student sports clubs, not faculty and do not formally form part of a school’s intercollegiate athletic program. They can be located at any post-secondary college or university, provided that the institution is willing to recognize football as a sport for clubs. The Intercollegiate Club Football Federation(ICFF) however, recognizes student clubs and independent programs without official sponsorship. These clubs include students from different schools. Although these programs are allowed by the NCFA, they cannot compete in the championship.
Many clubs are members with the ICFF/NCFA, especially in the midwest or south. Only in the Northeast in which the ICFF’s Yankee conference banned a number of NCFA member team members in 2015, can there be a significant difference between them. From 2012 until 2015 The NCFA National Championship Game took in Salem Football Stadium in Salem (Virginia) and was also the site for the NCAA Division III Football Championship. From 2016 to 2019 the NCFA National Championship Game was held at West Family Stadium on the campus of West Liberty University in Wheeling, West Virginia.
NCFA National Championship
The NCFA National Championship Bowl is the final game of the National Club Football Association Season. It pits the semi-finalists from the NCFA Playoffs against one another. The NCFA Coaches and Power Rankings determined the top-two national teams. The game was played between 2012 and 2014. The NCFA introduced a playoff with eight teams which included four championships for conference teams. The tournament was first introduced in the year 2015. The four winners would determine semifinalists prior to the championship.
The 2019 NCFA National Championship Bowl Game was broadcast live on radio and video. The Buckeyes beat the Golden Grizzlies 36-9.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic’s residual effects, the 2021 NCFA National Championship Bowl Game featured two of the best teams from the league’s Power Rankings. It was not a playoff. Additionally, the venue of the game was changed to Waynesburg University, a more centralized location for the remaining teams of the league.
Yearly Postseason Awards
The National Club Football Association began honoring Academic All American players in 2013 with First, Second or Third places awards. Since 2014 the league has been naming the winners of Players of Excellence from both sides of the game as well as the Head Coach of the Year award. Oakland University is the top school with five postseason honors and George Mason has four.
